As I mentioned in my previous post … I think .. we recently moved from our condo in Washington DC, to the Hudson Valley. It has been AMAZING and there is for sure to be more to come on the move and why this area is so enriching.
But something Ive been totally looking forward to is having a yard and a proper grill/smoker. Of course I spent countless hours perusing Youtube videos and reading reviews. I knew enough that I wanted a pellet smoker, especially over a offset or green egg. I had a pellet previously and simply loved the ability to set it and forget it, as the grill supplied itself the pellet fuel throughout the cook.
So after much consternation, I ponied up and bought a new Yoder 640 Pellet Smoker. All the reviews mentioned what a solid piece it was, and boy were they right. Its made by Yoder in Kansas City and Im so proud to continue to be more aligned with US made brands. Might be a little more, but in the end its more than worth it.

This thing is a TANK. It weights close to 500 pounds … however assembly was fairly easy and getting it up and running a pleasure. One of the things I loved about Yoder was their versatility of both cooking styles and components. I bought the grill grates, which enables fire kissed burgers and steaks at high heat with little to no flame up. The pizza over simply slots in and creates a cooking surface of almost 900 degrees. Then of course there is the low and slow cooking for brisket and the like.
So far Ive done steaks, corn, brisket, and pizza and could not be happier with the results. Of course Ill look to improve my skills as I get to know the grill more, but its definitely a winner for me and our new catskill lifestyle.
